My first wedding of 2020 left me speechless!!
I arrived to the reception venue/getting ready area before Kelly arrived. Her hair and makeup took a little longer than expected but I assured her the wedding would not go on without her. I met up with Kyle to start collecting their details to shoot. He was so happy to help me gather all their most important things and explain what everything meant to them. Kyle was telling me that he was actually the head chef at their venue and I thought that was pretty cool, Kelly must love to have a husband to cook for her!!
While shooting details, I got to meet all Kellys wonderful bridesmaids. Each of them was so sweet and helpful, finding me the wedding bands and florals! We had an awesome time chatting and getting to know one another.
When Kelly arrived she was so stunning. Her hair and makeup were perfect and she was just radiating happiness. I immediately knew this wedding was going to be amazing and I could not have been more right.
I think Kelly was one of the most calm brides I’ve ever worked with. She knew Kyle and their amazing planners Beckie and Doug had things covered. Like for example, when the florals got to the room it was the first time she had seen them and she was so in love. Kyle completely took care of florals for their wedding so she didn’t have more to worry about. I thought that was adorable. It spoke volumes how much he cared to make this day absolutely perfect for his beautiful bride.
Kelly put on her dress and I swear everyone in the room was literally speechless. It was like the dress was made just for her. It was absolutely gorgeous and she looked so beautiful.
Shortly after, it was first look time(my favorite). Kyle found us this perfect grassy area right outside the reception area to do it. Once I got Kyle in position, Kelly made her way into the grass with her trusted bridesmaids all holding her dress so it didn’t drag in the grass. When Kyle turned around it was like time stopped for them and no one else mattered or was even there. They soaked each other in, and it was beautiful. I remember Kelly saying she thinks she even got a tear out of him.
We headed to the ceremony at Old Donation Episcopal Church. I walked in and was so happy with how much natural light it offered. Tons of windows with sunlight coming in, it was just the perfect situation.
Before the ceremony started we did a second first look, but this time with Kelly and her father. CUE THE WATERWORKS. I told her dad how beautiful his daughter looks and he said “yeah she’s always been a cute kid.”
The ceremony was perfect, and they of course wrote their own vows. Kyle even wrote some for Kellys son, which I think made everyone tear up.
The reception was set up so tastefully. They had cookie favors. the best looking dessert bar I’ve ever seen and the prettiest table set ups. The room was filled with their closest family and friends and it really showed.
Usually at weddings I don’t tear up until speeches, but I think I was already tearing up during the first dances. It was definitely filled with lots of love and happy tears.
Right when I was getting ready to leave, Kellys parents song came on. They got on the dance floor and danced together like they were the only people in the room. Kelly kept saying how much she loved them. I had to capture that moment for them before leaving and I’m so glad I did.
It was such a perfect wedding(I know I Keep saying perfect, but it really was.) I am so honored I was able to work with this amazing couple and capture this big moment in both of their lives for them. Thank you for choosing me to be your photographer!!!
